Our Story

A Little About the Keils

We're Tina and Bryan, and our love for the Driftless started long before Driftless Destinations was even a thought.

For 26 years, we raised our three boys on an acreage, building a life centered around family, hard work, and making memories together. We've worked hard for everything we have, and along the way, we've learned that some of life's greatest rewards aren't things you can buy. They're the people you share your life with, the experiences you have together, and the memories you make.

And in our family, that includes the dogs, too!

In 2016, we bought a home near the Mississippi River and started spending as many weekends here as we could.

There was just something about this area that captured our hearts.

We could leave behind the busy schedules, the work, and the everyday responsibilities, and almost as soon as we arrived, everything felt different. Our shoulders relaxed. The stress seemed to disappear. Life slowed down just enough for us to enjoy it.

We loved exploring the little towns, discovering hidden gems, taking drives with no particular destination, and simply spending time together.

Before long, weekends weren't enough.

Almost four years ago, we decided to make the Driftless our permanent home. What surprised us most was that our family followed. Our youngest came with us while finishing high school, and eventually our two older boys made the move, too.

They had fallen in love with this place just as much as we had.

How Driftless Destinations Came to Be

We've always enjoyed traveling, taking road trips, and discovering those special places that make you want to return.

And we know firsthand how much where you stay can shape the entire experience.

When we started dreaming about Driftless Destinations, we wanted to create more than just another vacation rental.

We wanted to give other people the opportunity to experience the same feeling that made us fall in love with the Driftless.

We thought about all those weekends when we'd arrive, take in the beautiful scenery, and feel the worries of everyday life begin to fade.

We wanted our guests to experience that, too.

Bryan has spent more than 30 years building homes, and he put that experience into building Driftless Destinations. I brought the spaces inside to life, thinking about the little things that make a house feel comfortable, welcoming, and special.

From the beginning, we agreed on one thing.

We wanted to create a home we would be proud to live in ourselves.

We put a great deal of thought and effort into making it a place where families could reconnect, friends could catch up, and everyone could feel at home.

A place where grandparents, parents, and kids could spend time together. Where friends could laugh around the table, families could play games late into the evening, and the dogs could be part of the adventure instead of being left behind.

We also wanted guests to have the freedom to experience the Driftless however they wished.

Some days that might mean exploring the Mississippi River, wandering through little shops, discovering local restaurants, or taking a scenic drive through the bluffs.

Other days, it might mean staying in your pajamas, playing games, watching movies, and enjoying the simple pleasure of having nowhere else you need to be.

We wanted the house to be a wonderful place to return to after a day of exploring, but also somewhere you'd be perfectly happy spending the entire day.

And we wanted the little things to matter.

The extra blankets, the games, the welcome goodies, the thoughtful touches you might not expect.

Because sometimes it's those little things that make you realize someone genuinely cares.

We wanted you to feel like someone was thinking about you before you even arrived.
